Building a communityโs doula workforce in Palm Beach County
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County (HMHB) created Stronger Together to grow a local workforce of doulas who offer culturally aligned physical and emotional support to families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Today, training is delivered by HMHBโs own Doulio-certified trainers, building lasting local capacity for doula care.

Program milestones
How Stronger Together grew
Stronger Together began with a focus on Black American women in selected Palm Beach County neighborhoods with higher rates of poor birth outcomes. As the program grew, HMHB opened participation across the county, including Haitian women.
HMHB sought a doula consultant for the program, and Brittany Fadiora filled that role. Recruitment for the first Stronger Together cohort began later that year.
The first Stronger Together cohort graduated.
HMHB hired Latoya Rawls, a first-cohort graduate, as its on-staff Doula Certification Coordinator to support the growing program.
HMHB celebrated 100 births supported by Stronger Together doulas. This earlier milestone is included in the August 2026 total of 171 births, not added to it.
HMHB reported 75 doulas graduated and 171 births supported since the program began.

The partnership
Led by HMHB, supported by Doulio
HMHB leads the program
HMHB launched Stronger Together and runs it: recruiting and selecting each cohort, matching doulas with HMHB clients, and supporting doulas through certification. The program is led by HMHBโs team, including CEO Michelle Gonzalez, Program Director Angelique Francois, and Doula Certification Coordinator Latoya Rawls.
Early consulting, 2021
When HMHB sought a doula consultant in 2021, Brittany Fadiora filled that role as the program took shape and recruitment for the first cohort began. Brittany is now co-founder and CEO of Doulio.
Doulioโs role today
Doulio provides the doula training curriculum and certification. Since 2025, HMHB has been a Doulio Certified Training Partner, so HMHBโs own Doulio-certified trainers deliver the training locally.
